Totally agree. A couple of weeks ago it dawned on me that I don't read near enough humor on this platform. So I have determined to start leavening more of my own writing with humor. We'll see how that goes. Your own anecdote was just a perfect addition to my own thoughts.
I read your story to my spouse this morning and we couldn't stop laughing over the "chicken, but not just any chicken, FRIED CHICKEN" theme. It was priceless for any parent who has had children learning how to muddle through early life. Makes it all worth living, Keith!!
This is absolutely brilliant. The "afraid to make a commitment" line perfectly nails that generational gap where girls are thinking romance novels and guys are literaly just thinking about their next meal lol. Back when I was teaching, watched so many of these mismatched wavelengths play out in real time.
Thank you for the wonderful laugh this morning, we must start our days with unbridled joy to endure the slings and arrows of the battle...😜

Loved this. So much.

Btw, regarding humor, Substackers must absolutely quit taking themselves so seriously! 😉
