I see more and more e-mails and social media profiles in which people call out their "preferred pronouns". This, it seems to me, is discriminatory against other parts of speech. Why do people have preferred pronouns but not, say, preferred adverbs?
For the record, my preferred adverbs are jauntily, and heartily. For prepositions, I have a strong affinity for unto and from. But, to be honest, I like all the prepositions equally well.
I predict that discriminating against parts of speech will turn into a complete free-for-all. People will eventually start arguing over preferred tenses, or highlighting specific noun declensions as superior to others.
Mark my words, grammatical bigotry is going to turn into a complete mess.
