I recently saw a cartoon where a boy was overworking himself at school to make sure he was getting praise and attention from his father. As a result of sleeping in, he was punished to stay and help do chores at his boarding school dorm over the weekend.
His friends, loyal as they are, attempting to cheer him up by getting in trouble themselves to stay behind and help him door chores. Ultimately they ended up playing that got them punished further into a camping trip with a male custodian.
This adventure resulted in them fishing to eat on a fire they assembled themselves and ending the night at a pond to see the stars reflect on the water.
This is the kind of experience children enjoy, feeling enabled and in control but also being able to enjoy male bonding and beauty (after all, what initially attracts us to women but their beauty?)
