Baseball’s sweetest song: Willie Mays, forever young, is 90
Willie Mays is turning 90, and no mistaking that number. It strikes with the clarity of a line drive. Mays played in a sport measured by milestones — 3,000 hits, 500 homers, signposts he passed and then some — and now here’s one more.

I was a big Willie Mays fan as a kid. I got to watch the San Francisco Giants play a double header against the Phillies in the old Connie Mack stadium in the late 1960's. Willie Mays, Willie McCovey, and Juan Marichal all took the field that day.

Alas, I've stopped watching Major League Baseball. Their mendacity and treatment of the state of Georgia left me unwilling to do anything that puts money in their pocket(s).
